- Kosovo and Albania announce plans to merge. These plans are cut short when a Kosovo Serb calling himself Stefan Uros X assassinates Kosovo's President, Skender Ahmeti. The resulting war nearly bankrupts the entire Balkan region, ultimately leading to the formation of the Federation of Balkan States.
