Events[]
- A race of mysterious beings called the Collectors begin attacking human colonies and kidnapping the inhabitants.
- The space station Omega experiences a rise in unusual casualties, stemming from a combination of a plague epidemic, a gang war, and the arrival of an Ardat-Yakshi on the station.
- Commander Shepard, previously believed dead, reappears amid rumors of a defection to the terrorist organization known as Cerberus.
- Horizon, a human colony, is subjected to an attack by the Collectors.
- A turian separatist group, Facinus, launches a starship at near-FTL speeds into Vallum, the capital city of the turian colony of Taetrus, sparking a war with the Turian Hierarchy.
- War breaks out on Garvug, a krogan-majority world, after a coalition of corporate armies attempt to usurp the krogan clan-based government in order to gain access to the planet's resources, ostensibly to begin restoring the planet's damaged ecosystem. Though the krogans are removed from power, the corporatist forces struggle against an insurrection. Clan Urdnot is rumored to be backing the insurgents.
- Exobiologist Dr. Jordan Detweiller makes contact with a completely virtual civilization and agrees to let an ambassador from the virtual world take over his physical body. Controversey ensues when the ambassador petitions for asylum in the physical world, which would leave Detweiller's consciousness trapped indefinitely in the virtual world, but the conflict dissipates after a volunteer allows the ambassador to take their body. Shortly afterwards, 400 more volunteers step forward offering to "swap bodies" with any more virtual beings seeking a way into the physical world.
- The two-year war between the Shadow Broker and Liara T'Soni reaches a boiling point when the Shadow Broker sends two agents, Nyxeris and the corrupt Spectre Tela Vasir, to assassinate T'Soni. Both attempts fail; Nyxeris is killed by T'Soni, and Vasir is hunted down and killed by T'Soni's ally, Cmdr. Shepard. Soon after, T'Soni and Shepard strike the Shadow Broker's base on Hagalaz. The Shadow Broker dies in the attack, and T'Soni takes over the organization.
- An unnamed pharmaceutical company releases Reversal, a gastroimmunal suppressant treatment that enables the safe ingestion of food regardless of its chirality, allowing turians and quarians their first opportunity to sample other species' cuisine.
- Dr. Andile Ndiaye, the head of a team of biologists, discovers the kirik, a species of small, beetle-like invertebrates with biotic abilities, on Ekram. Controversey erupts when Ndiaye announces that the kirik are sentient, and proposes "uplifting" them.
- Thresher Squad disbands after a year of searching for Jonathan Allen, leaving Omega Squad as the sole team left searching for Allen.
