Agrebium was a chthonian planet located in the Minos Wasteland within Outer Council Space. Despite scorching temperatures and lethal levels of radiation on the planet's surface, Agrebium housed a thriving community of miners, thanks to immense quantities of valuable metals and Element Zero located deep underground. This colony provided considerable profits for the volus, salarians, and, in its later years, humans. Transit to and from Agrebium was difficult due to the planet's close proximity to its sun; ships with any less shielding than an Alliance Geneva-class cruiser could only dock on the mining colony during night hours, so that they were not directly exposed to the intense heat and radiation given off by Agrebium's sun, which would overwhelm their shields and cook everyone onboard alive.
Several corporations maintained manufacturing plants on Agrebium, such as Elanus Risk Control Services and Devlon Industries.
In early 2186, the SSV Libreville was drawn to Agrebium by a number of disturbing distress signals originating from the planet's mining colony, which the ship had intercepted on its way from the Terminus Systems back to the Citadel, and the Libreville dispatched Katzbalger Squad to investigate. Katzbalger Squad would end up narrowly preventing a war, though this would turn out to only be a shortlived victory.
After this incident, the mining colony was shut down. The human mining corporation Eldfell-Ashland Energy was blamed for not keeping proper track of the actions of the human management on the colony.
