The Fifth Fleet―commonly referred to as the Arcturus Fleet―of the Systems Alliance Navy was a fleet consisting of 385 ships under the command of Fleet Admiral Steven Hackett. Based at the Alliance capital of Arcturus Station, it was initially tasked with patrolling the Attican Traverse.

In 2183 CE, the Fifth Fleet became famous across the Milky Way Galaxy after spearheading Alliance forces at the Battle of the Citadel and destroyed the Reaper Sovereign, albeit at the cost of eight cruisers and its 2400 crewmen. Subsequent to the Battle of the Citadel, the Fifth Fleet is awarded the Palladium Star by the Citadel Council for their involvement in that pivotal battle.

During the Reaper invasion in 2186, the Fifth Fleet helps defend Arcturus Station. When the Reapers begin to overwhelm Alliance forces, Admiral Hackett sacrifices the entire Second Fleet to allow the Third and Fifth Fleets to escape.
