Rear Admiral Jonathan-James "JJ" Alenko, is a retired Systems Alliance Navy Officer and member of the N7 Program. A former companion and lover of Commander Shepard, Alenko would briefly become the second Human Spectre in 2184 following the Commanders death, though he would resign that and retire from active service in order to join the Andromeda Initiative as a Member of the Pathfinder Team.

A veteran of the Skyllian Blitz, Mindoir Raid, and Massacre of Torfan, Alenko would become one of the System's Alliance most renowned soldiers and would earn no less than twenty-five death marks from the Batarian Hegemony for his vicious retaliation on Torfan.

A former graduate of the BAaT Program, Alenko is known for his widespread and outspoken condemnation of the program and it's mixed-results and is a former leading backer of the Ascension Program.

Following the Sovreign Crisis, Alenko, grieving for his brother and lost lover, was promoted to Rear Admiral, and chosen to take Shepard's Place in the Spectres by the Citadel Council.

After joining the Andromeda Initiative, Alenko would serve as the Pathfinder Team's Field Medic and Heavy Weapons and Special Operations Specialist.

History[]

Early Life and the BAaT Program[]

Born in 2150 on Earth, Jonathan-James Alenko was quickly identified to be biotic and a child prodigy, JJ excelled at many things, sports, academics, and extra-curricular classes and activities. When he was five, he showed a natural aptitude for medicine and long-term survival skills after he and Kaidan were lost in the forest on a school trip on Earth.

When he attended a school trip to Illium, JJ first met the Asari medical student, Daeneeria T'pero, who had been studying at Illium University. He immediately hit it off with the promising young medical student, who inspired him to enlist in the System's Alliance with the goal of becoming a field medic for frontline troops.

Eventually while having just turned twelve, JJ was sent to join the Biotic Acclimation and Temperance Training Program on Gagrian Station. Much as he had in his earlier education, JJ proved himself a skilled and powerful biotic, and over the course of his time at the BAaT Program, became both its top student, and the personal favorite of chief instructor and Turian mercenary, Commander Vyrannus.

Protecting His Brother[]

As his time at the Biotic Acclimation and Temperance Training Program neared its end, JJ who knew about Kaidan's infatuation with Rahna and the fact that Vyrannus likely would take advantage of that during training, began to privately instruct both Rahna and Kaidan to protect them. However when Vyrannus discovered that a student had been operating a secret transmitter and devised a biotic exercise where they were to assemble an object from a pile of blocks with their biotics and the promise of water and food upon completion of the exercise.

Completing his first, JJ declined food and drink to redo the exercise, something he would continue to do under the pretext of refining and furthering his control of his biotics. In actuality, JJ was trying to keep an eye on Rahna and Kaidan. JJ's fears were eventually realized when Vyrannus broke Rahna's arms, and Kaidan attacked Vyrannus.

Before Vyrannus could retaliate against Kaidan, JJ threw himself at the Turian mercenary commander and ordered Kaidan away. By protecting his brother, JJ entered a duel to the death with Vyrannus, who drew his talon knife. Knowing what it would mean for the other BAaT students to witness Vyrannus death, JJ resolved to injure Vyrannus enough that the Turian wouldn't get up but would not die.

To that end, JJ used his biotics to break Vyrannus arms and legs as well as his joints, forcing Vyrannus to concede defeat. In protecting his brother, JJ had saved Kaidan from killing another man in a cold rage and realizing with grief it had caused the very people he was trying to protect to fear him and abandon him.

Without a word, JJ abandoned Gagrian Station and the BAaT Program, returning to Earth without a world.

Training to be a doctor and enlistment[]

Recalling his time on Illium, JJ made the decision to join Illium university as student for two years before enlisting in the Alliance Navy. As part of his studies JJ was taught field medicine and was selected to join a course for advanced Trauma care and surgery.
