Capt. Paul Crouse was the Commanding Officer of the SSV Ypres from 2176 CE until 2179 CE. When pirates attacked the Ypres in 2179, he and Executive Officer Jared Coulter rallied the crew to re-take control of the ship, but both they and crewmates Richard Jackson and Archie Dodds lost their lives in the process. For their courageous leadership, all four men were posthumously given medals.
