SSV Kangchenjunga

The SSV Kangchenjunga DF-1 was a Systems Alliance Dreadnought Starship. She was developed by Human enginneers and completed on 2158. She made her appearance during the New York Rapture of 2160, serving as a military operations base and care center in New York Harbor until June 15, 2160 when she left for battle. She is optimized for basic "Shock and Awe" tactics due to her immense size, as well as attacking due to the amazing amount of fire power she possesses. Her main gun, nicknamed "Hotshot" is famed throughout the Systems Alliance. She is destroyed during the Reaper Incrusion of 2186.

Captained by Robert Christianson, she served in many battles including on the Battle of the Citadel and Rescue on Horizon. She has been captained by Admiral Robert Christianson since completion.

The SSV Kangchenjunga is named after the 3rd tallest mountain on Earth, which holds the same name.

Service History[]

Completed in Beijing, China; The Kangchenjunga was held at port until 2160, when the New York Rapture happened. During the events, Kangchenjunga was harbored outside of Queens, New York and remained there from March 5th to Jun 16th acting as a mobile base for the remaining New York Police and National Guard as well as serving as a hospital for survivors.

The first major conflict it was introduced to was The Battle of the Citadel where it lead the Tenth Fleet into battle. Though, it was one of the only ships to smash through the Citadel (causing millions of credits in damage) and did immense damage to Soveriegn as well as the rest of Tenth Fleet. It was grounded a few months afterwards, until repairs were made.

After Horizon was attacked, Survivors were saved by the Kangchenjunga which helped them out by giving supplies and additional troops to scout. The Kangchenjunga soon headed the Seventh Fleet when Earth was attacked, but was ultimately destroyed by the Reapers over New York Harbor killing everyone on board.

Trivia[]

  • The Kangchenjunga is the only Dreadnought to break the 800 Meters-to-1-kilometer rule, being 1,135 meters long.
  • The Kangchenjunga is the only Dreadnought to be able to safely land on the surface of planets without discharging the drive core, though it must be discharged when flying low.
  • The Kangchenjunga's destruction caused a shockwave so large, it caused a nearby building to collapse, meaning that it either had more than one drive core, or one massive drive core.
