Selius Orodas is a retired turian general who fought in the First Contact War and Reaper invasion. He later became the Interstellar Republic's inaugural First Minister during the galaxy's largest reconstruction efforts. While he oversaw the foundation of a well-financed government, due to his strong position of defense, Selius personally advocated for the creation of a powerful military force―leading him to be called the "Father of the Republic Armed Forces".

Following his election as First Minister in 2187 CE, he worked to unify the various species in the fledgling government but as a result of frustrations with politics and increasingly partisan gridlock, Selius refused to run for re-election to a second term.

Biography[]

Early career[]

Several years prior to the Relay 314 Incident, Selius Orodas hailed from the turian colony Invictus. Born into a military family with strong ties to the Turian Hierarchy, Selius began his military training at 15 and served alongside Adrien Victus on Shanxi. By the time of the Reaper invasion, Selius commanded the Turian Blackwatch across many regions of the galaxy and survived the war's end, retiring to Palaven to help the turian homeworld rebuild.

First Minister of the Interstellar Republic[]

When the Citadel Council reorganized into the Interstellar Republic, Selius was the first democratically-elected First Minister and proved to be an able administrator, established many precedents in the functions of relaying messages to the Galactic Senate and the cabinet form of government. Despite fears that a democratic system would lead to political violence, he set the standard for tolerance of opposition voices and conducted a smooth transition of power to his future successors. A tough, disciplined yet excellent delegator and judge of talent and character, he talked regularly with department heads and listened to their advice before making a final decision. Near the end of his first term, Selius chose not to seek a second term.
