By the time of his birth, he was taken in by Yrinina T'Nola, a influential political figure and wealthy asari. Sal was raised unknown to his step-mothers fortune, but video recordings suggest he did'nt care about her wealth. At age 10, he was exposed to massive amounts of eezo which would have killed him. He was rushed to the nearest hospital where they told his step-mother he would develop biotics. Yrinina bribed the hospital staff into keeping his biotic potential a secret. Sal was present when Saren attacked the Citadel and fought off the geth that pursued them. After the attack was over, Sal's real mother decided to live with him as his step-mother went back to Thessia only to be charged by the Alliance government for housing a biotic. Days later, Sal is approached by Mira T'Gosa to create the Citadel Security Special Forces. Sal focuses on it's development instead of his family and this causes his mother to re-marry.

Hey, mom! Hope your getting this. I really miss you since you gave me back to Rami, my birth mother. You know, I saw her cry when she caught sight of those pictures of you and me. Somehow I knew this would be coming. She never got to see me walk my first steps, never got to hear me speak for the first time, or get to see my grades from school. Since she came back, I've really been thinking about you most of the time. Kinda miss you wake me up and I get ready for school. All Rami does is just sleep. She does'nt do what you would have done every morning.

I thought you never used that name. Oh well. Sal, as for your mother, you need to respect her. She's been through so much to be where she is. And you better call her by "mom" not her name but "mom". If she does'nt do what I do every morning, then I can't do anything. You need to give her some space. She's not me. Everytime I wake up, I'm energized and feeling good.

==Reports regarding appearance==

Sal is rarely seen outside his armor and has caused some speculation that he is not human even though it is very clear he is. Camera's placed by agents have failed due to some interference and have not taken a clear image of what he really looks like. However, verbal conversations have possibly revealed he is pale colored.
