The Systems Alliance Biological Research and Engineering Division, better known as SABRE, is a top-secret branch of the Systems Alliance devoted to the study of biological and chemical weapons. While its stated purpose is to prepare countermeasures in the event of a biological or chemical attack by non-human species, it has long been rumored that SABRE has been developing chemical weapons designed to kill other sentient species.
In 2186 CE, the Reaper crisis forced SABRE to close down its major laboratories, but many of its most loyal operatives have banded together to form Gungnir Squad.
