Lieutenant (junior grade) William Simmons was a Systems Alliance Navy Logistics Officer, aboard the frigate SSV Leyte Gulf. Following the destruction of his warship in 2182 CE, he deserted the Alliance, in hopes of bettering his situation.

William Gerald Simmons was born on the 22nd of January, 2163 CE, to Lieutenant Commander Jessica Waters (Alliance Navy) and Major Gary Simmons (Alliance Marine Corps). In order to raise their son, the two military officers arranged to serve planet-side on Earth.
