The zosca are a pre-spaceflight species of bulky humanoids native to the desert planet Duvrah. Extremely xenophobic and distrustful of outsiders, they caused a small incident in 2187 CE, when they discovered an asari xeno-anthopologist, Mathara Sunori, on their planet and attempted to hunt her down.
History[]
According to their own accounts, the zosca were once a thriving empire who had managed to colonize both their homeworld and its moon. However, at some point, they attracted the attention of an unknown, but apparently technologically superior species. The more intellectually-inclined among them proposed a partnership between the two species in the hopes of sharing technology, but instead, the zosca soon found themselves enslaved to the other species.
Eventually the zosca revolted, and an extremely bloody, ruinous war broke out. Though they were technologically outmatched, the zosca had greater numbers and proved to be tenacious combatants, and their masters were forced to abandon Duvrah as the costs of crushing the rebellion threatened to ruin their imperial economy.
Thus, the zosca won their freedom, which they celebrated by launching purges to eliminate intellectuals from their society.
